2011 - Heat 4 Report

Rodbenders

Rodbenders continue to struggle and whilst all team members caught fish, only Robert Wheaton and James Langdon were present at the weigh-in to register one fish each.

Although both of these were specimen sized, a 4 lb. 0 oz Mullet (106.66%) captured by Robert and a 9 lb. 1 oz Small Eye Ray (113.28%) by James, the combined points score of just 13 was insufficient to halt a further slide down the table from 4th to 6th place, 3 points adrift of 5th placed Naval Stores.

However, the number of different species caught has now risen to 12 and the team now share the lead in this competition with Stonehouse. A.

Rebels

For the second successive Heat, the Rebels registered no fish at all and one wonders whether this was due to any exceptional circumstances or whether they need to re-think their team strategy. As none of the team returned to the weigh-in, there is no information available on this aspect.

The team are now in 5th spot and are 23 pts below the team in the second promotion place.

Raiders

Raiders fared a little better in this Heat, with each member retuning with fish although some points were lost because they produced 3 and not 4 different species.

Steve Hayman, making his first appearance on the team sheet, found the best fish, a Mullet of 4 lb. 2 oz (110%) whilst Lee Vosper brought in another Mullet (2 lb. 10.5 oz - 70.83%), Steve Nicholson, a Ballen Wrasse of 3 lb. 14 oz (86.11%) and Mark Ancill, a Bass of 3 lb. 1 oz (55.68%).

The 4 fish produced a total score of 19 pts. increasing to 4 pts. the lead over Seafarers who occupy one of the two relegation places and narrowing the gap to the 7th place club who are now 12 pts. above them.

An unfortunate break down in communications that led another member to think that he was needed for the team when in this particular instance, this was not the case and serves as reminder that everyone needs to be clear about the selection arrangements.
